THE CREATIVE LIFE FOR THE CURIOUS

My sister, Terrie, recently stayed with me in my Colorado home, Takoda Pines. We were both back in our native state celebrating my mom’s 80th birthday. (I love that lady!) When ever Terrie visits she leaves a note or poem in my guest book. This time she left an extra special memento I had to share. Every morning she was with me she woke up and grabbed a piece of random paper and began doodling with her morning coffee. My sister will tell you she is a gardner, an explorer, even a writer but never an artist.

After her morning ritual I would peek at her doodles and enjoyed traveling around them and discovering treasures hidden through out the whimsical motifs. When I complimented her on her art she shrugged and said, "it isn’t really art it is more of a morning meditation." When I said I loved her art she laughed it off but I requested she leave a meditative doodle in the guest book.. Creativity is in all of us - let yours out. There is no wrong way to doodle and if you do it daily, you might impress yourself (or your sister).

ARTIST TIPS FOR THE MOTIVATED

Start your own morning meditative doodle, what an excellent way to begin the day in a creative way. I have been trying to make morning drawing part of my practice. Make sure to share yours on my Instagram or Facebook

TRAVEL TIPS FOR THE INSPIRED

Next time you are traveling and have an opportunity to leave a note, do not limit yourself to the normal entry. Share a drawing, poem, or song. Your hosts will be grateful and probably will ask you back!

SHARING FOR THE GENEROUS

Remember I said my sister considers herself a writer? Well take a look at how she naturally incorporates words in her artwork, such a wonderful, authentic mark.

I really want to see your morning meditation doodles, share them with me on Instagram or Facebook or email me at pattiebyron@mac.com
