Opening at Core New Art Space

Denver, CO – Thursday, January 12, 2017, GLAM & GRIT is the title of the upcoming

exhibition at Core New Art Space which opens January 26 and runs through February 12, 2017, in

the main gallery. The Artists’ reception is Friday January 27, 5-9 pm. A First Friday reception is

scheduled for Friday, February 3, 5-9 pm.

This show features new work by the members of the WCA/CO and

includes a collaboration with the Michigan chapter of Women’s Caucus

for Art, using postcards, with the theme of ‘women.’ The combination of

the two parts makes for a very interesting and lively exhibition.

Founded in 1972, the Woman’s Caucus for Art (WCA) is a multidisciplinary,

multi-cultural group of artists, art historians, students and

educators, gallery and museum professionals and others involved in the

visual arts. Emphasis is focused on the enormous contributions of women

and people of color throughout the history of art and women working in

the visual arts professions today. The WCA is a national network.

The Colorado Chapter of WCA was founded in 1990, and is dedicated to creating community

through art, education and social activism by supporting women artists, by creating both leadership

and exhibition opportunities.

CORE New Art Space was founded in 1981 as a non-profit contemporary art cooperative. It

is comprised of 24 member artists and is located in Denver’s historic Santa Fe Arts District.

Core provides professional gallery space to its members as well as to the broader arts

community. Core offers additional opportunities to artists in the form of juried feature

exhibitions. The mission of Core New Art Space is to encourage the exploration of new and

different forms of expression and to promote to the general public the understanding of

contemporary art.
